What is Internet Safety?

It is the activity of adhering to the practical standards, contemporary technology and safeguarding your digital gadgets to protect yourself from malicious aspects of the online world.

Ways I can improve my safety on the internet

From the webinar organised by THE ADA SOFTWARE ENGINEERING PROGRAM, Ms Ihuoma favour and Mr Max-Favour stressed on the importance of keeping your digital gadgets and data on the internet safe from fraudsters and malicious wares. The following are ways I learnt to keep my data safe from harm.

• Before clicking a click, ensure that the link has 's' in the https. The 's' indicates the websites uses a 'secure socket layer's which is an extra layer of security.

• Do not click links your device flags as dangerous.

• Never use one password for different sites.

• Do not open your email on public wifi as other people connected to the same wifi has access to your computer.

• Use anti-malware apps on gadgets and frequently update them.

• Scan your devices at intervals with anti-virus software.

In conclusion, it is safe to say that practicing internet safety would not only protect you from internet fraud, it would also save you the stress of having your data misused or encrypted by third party websites.
